Simply put, I carry several of these stories with me in my mind, even years after I read them, and wonder that he could have anticipated so much that would matter in my everyday dealings with life and humanity.
It was okay.
Bausch's stories stay with you long after you've finished reading them. He is a fine writer who documents the complexity of the heart and of the ways that people miss out on understanding each other even after years of being together and even as they love each other.
This is a great collection of stories. I heard one read on the radio and immediately ordered it. The stories deal with the complexities of relationships, marriage, death, and much more.
One of Bausch's short stories was featured on the radio show, This American Life. Loved the story, so I bought his book. He seems to have innate ability to capture the subtleties and nuances of interpersonal relationships. And he's versatile, covering a wide range of subject matter.
